Dementia has been the leading cause of death in Britain for the last 10 years. It is a growing global health concern and economic burden with no known cure. It is described as a set of symptoms that over time affect memory, problem-solving, language, and behavior. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of Dementia. However, research suggests that lifestyle factors play a significant role in dementia prevention. This service emphasises the development and implementation of comprehensive lifestyle-based dementia prevention programs aimed to reducing the risk of dementia through non-drug therapies for healthy adults.

How are Dementia and Mental Health linked?

Dementia affects judgment, all the senses, and physical ability, and it develops anxiety, depression, and agitation. People living with dementia feel stressed, lost, and confused.

Our aim:

Educate and Raise Awareness: Increase public awareness and understanding of dementia risk factors and the potential for prevention through lifestyle changes. Promote Healthy Behaviours: Encourage individuals to adopt and maintain a set of healthy lifestyle practices proven to reduce dementia risk. Community Engagement: Establish community-based initiatives that support and sustain healthy behaviours for dementia prevention. Research and Evaluation: Collect data to assess the program's impact on dementia risk reduction and overall well-being. Collecting and analysing data longitudinally over time to see how this prevention program improving participants overall cognition and quality of life.

What we can provide you?

We are providing a support program for adults and frail elderly who have memory difficulties and associated problems such as depression, confusion, anxiety, and sleeping disturbances. This includes mindful-based Cognitive Behavioural therapy somatic relaxation, tailored to the client’s skills and attitude. We will further discuss with you various service options in detail after registration.

What services we can’t provide you with?

  • Handling financial matters (pin number, bank statement),personal letters,
    emails.
  • Managing private affairs (cash assets, land property, arranging legal
    correspondence).
  • We also don’t provide health support for any other comorbidities, handling
    medications, test results, offer prescriptions and care for household tasks.
  • We don’t provide transport for face to face session.

Services for people living with dementia

First Step: After free registration consultation 15 mins to obtain brief history and understanding of patient condition from patients or from carer.

Second Step: Detailed history, General observation of overall health, questionnaire test for cognitive decline (memory, language, writing, understanding) , plan for therapy which is suitable for clients.

Third Step: Starting therapy at least one or two depending on first assessment and client adaptability. e.g. Talking therapy and art therapy.)

Fourth Step: Continued sessions e.g. Reminiscence therapy and Doll therapy etc.

Fifth Step: follow-up patients improvement and evaluation of therapy either make it shorter or longer or continuation the process to prevent further decline.

  • 1st consultation £20
  • 1 session costs £50

  • 5 sessions £200.

(session time length depends on the client’s need and type of therapy)

Services for the carer of the people living with dementia

Carers also have access to awareness programs on Dementia program or confusion
about forgetfulness or dealing with stress during their journey of handling people
living with Dementia. They can also share experiences with other carers as well.

  • Session 1: how to maintain home safety of people with Dementia.
  • Session 2: Balanced food , Handling swallowing difficulty, Fussy eaters prevention
    of overweight etc.
  • Session 3: Training for maintain quality sleep and prevent insomnia.
  • Session 4: Healthy Bathroom habits and managing personal cleanliness (Brushing ,
    Bathing, Dress up accordingly), prevention of Infectious disease.
  • Session 5: Coping with anxiety and agitation and other psychosocial behaviour
    related with Dementia.
Each session cost £40 minimum 35 min

proposed), Dementia and Mental Health Services at Apasen Care Home.

Awareness session for all healthy adult, Friends and Family of People living with Dementia :

This services designed for all healthy adults who are very enthusiastic for living a healthy life both physically and mentally and want to learn more about Dementia. We arrange once in a month: 1 hour awareness session: Memory preservation, Depression , sleep difficulty , Healthy eating and prevention of infectious Diseases etc. 30 minute open discussion and question answer session : corresponding subjects , related to the topics.
Entry fees -£15,Refreshment will be provided.
We hope to arrange day outing, shopping together or Green way walking along side for creating friendly environment to support Dementia people.

Payment Method: You can pay individual budget by bank transfer/cash/cheque in
advance. You can come by person /with a carer/friends and by self-referral.
